June 2003 - Reversed into Land Rover. Decision made to reshell

Mid June - Dismantling Starts

July 2003 - Dismantling Complete

August 2003 - New bodyshell ordered from MGOC

August 2003 - Front Suspension/Crossmember & rear suspension ordered from MGOC

August 2003 - Design work on database and project application starts

September 2003 - Body available but has to go back in the queue at MGOC for painting

November 2003 - Design work on wiring diagram starts

17 December 2003 - Body arrives from MGOC (finally!)

17 December 2003 - Front crossmember fitted

18 December 2003 - Back axle offered up - lots of fun with spring hangars!

December 2003 - Callipers and back shield fitted, back axle fitted

January 2004 - Rear brakes

January 2004 - That heater!

February 2004 - Master cylinders and pedal box

February 2004 - Windscreen washers, wiper boxes and dashboard coaming

February 2004 - Front wheel bearings

February 2004 - Engine dismantling starts

February 2004 - Rear shock absorbers (useless fitting instructions)

February 2004 - Engine for crank regrind and cylinder hone

March 2004 - Wiring started

March 2004 - Fuel tank fitted

March 2004 - Rear loom completed to boot

March 2004 - Wiper motor and steering column

March 2004 - Fuel tank in

March 2004 - Engine built up

3 April - Engine and gearbox in

4 April - Propshaft in

17 April - All engine ancillaries fitted, radiator fitted

19 April - Dashboard wiring starts

27 April - Windscreen fitting starts

28 April - Windscreen complete

3 May - Dashboard in

4 May - Cylinder Head fitted

16 May - Carburettors fitted - special manifold washers required

25 May - Wiring dashboard switches

1 June - Sill carpets, threshold plates and seal retainer. Rear bumper on

2 June - Carpet fitting

5 June - Cut aerial hole in wing and fitted motorised aerial - most frightening task of all (what happens if the hole's in the wrong place?!)

6 June - 2 weeks holiday

26 June - Car on wheels for the first time.

27 June - Carpets complete

29 June - Bonnet bits - safety hook and locking pin

30 June - Speedo and revcounter in

3 July - Doors and quarterlights fitted - minimal hole filing

4 July - Chrome strips on door - major waxoyling session (extremely messy and very frustrating - even on a hot day!

14 July - Window regulators

16 July - First attempt at console

17 July - Door trim panels

26 July - Console wiring

29 July - Electrics live - number of minor problems - some dodgy bulbs.

31 July - Adjusted nearside door

2 August - Started tightening front suspension bolts

3 August - Sorted fuel pump problem - fuel pump has polarity.

9 August - Front bumper

13 August - Adjusted heater motor so fan doesn't rub

14 August - Front brake pipes, bled brakes. Started engine for first time. Runs very weakly. Fault traced to 2 superfluous breather pipes on carbs.

23 August - New clutch master cylinder - can't bleed old one. First time down drive - turned round at bottom and came back. Steering very heavy!

24 August - Commissioned carbs - slow running and mixture

25 August - Readjusted ride height on rear springs

30 August - Serious filing session on bonnet pin locking housing holes. Now fits better

13 September - Front wheel hubs are reversed - corrected.

14 September - Down to local garage for paint touch up, steering check and MoT

20 September - MoT passed

21 September - First trip on roads - ran out of petrol! My excuse? - fuel gauge wasn't working. Fault was corrected when new power supply stabiliser was fitted.
